Elbow Pain

Tennis and golfer's elbow treatment in Malvern that corrects the strain

Persistent elbow pain from racquet sports, golf, or repetitive lifting. We combine manual therapy and dry needling to calm irritated tissue and correct the patterns causing the strain.

Why it happens

Elbow pain is usually a tendon that got overloaded.

Tennis elbow on the outside and golfer's elbow on the inside are both overuse tendon problems, where the tissue that anchors your forearm muscles gets loaded faster than it can recover.

For active adults, that overload often comes from racquet sports, golf, or repetitive gripping and lifting, and it is frequently made worse by grip mechanics, a stiff wrist, or a shoulder that is not sharing the load. Braces and rest can quiet the pain, but the tendon stays under-prepared for the very thing you want to return to.

Because we work out of network, we are not limited by insurance rules on time or technique. Every visit is 30–60 minutes, one-on-one, with the same provider, so we can combine manual therapy and dry needling to calm the irritated tissue while we correct the patterns causing the strain and rebuild the tendon's capacity.

Our process

How we get to the root cause of your elbow pain.

Good treatment starts with an accurate diagnosis. Here is how we find the source of the strain, not just the sore tendon.

Assess the chain

Your first visit is 30–60 minutes with one provider who takes your history and goals, then screens the elbow, wrist, and shoulder and looks at your grip and sport mechanics.

Diagnose the driver

We confirm whether it is tennis or golfer's elbow and identify what keeps overloading the tendon, whether that is grip mechanics, a stiff wrist, or a shoulder not sharing the load.

Treat hands-on

In most cases we begin care the same day, combining manual therapy and dry needling to calm the irritated tendon and forearm tissue and ease the pain.

Load and progress

We rebuild the tendon's capacity with progressive loading and correct the mechanics behind the strain so you return to racquet sports, golf, or lifting without the flare.

FAQ

Q&A about elbow pain

Both are overuse tendon problems, but they affect different sides of the elbow. Tennis elbow involves the tendons on the outside, often aggravated by backhands and gripping, while golfer's elbow involves the tendons on the inside, often linked to the golf swing and repetitive lifting. We confirm which one you have and treat the cause behind it.

Braces and rest can calm the pain, but tendons get healthier with the right kind of load, not just avoidance. If the tendon never rebuilds its capacity and the mechanics driving the strain are not corrected, the pain tends to return when you go back to your sport, which is exactly what our loading plan addresses.

It can be a useful part of care. Dry needling helps calm irritated forearm and elbow tissue and trigger points, and at MYOLAB it is built into your plan alongside manual therapy and progressive loading rather than used on its own. You can read more on our dry needling page.

Often, yes, with adjustments. We keep you active where it is safe and modify grip, volume, or load where it is not, so you protect your play while the tendon recovers and rebuilds.

We are fee-for-service and out of network, with simple time-based pricing, and our clinical care is HSA/FSA-eligible so you can use pre-tax dollars. See pricing and membership for the full breakdown.
